Introduction
Péter completed his university studies at the Faculty of Humanities, ELTE, where he obtained a degree in history in 2007. He continued his studies at the Doctoral School of Military Science at the Miklós Zrínyi National Defense University, where he was awarded a PhD in military history in 2012.
After graduating, he initially taught as a guest lecturer at the ELTE BTK Southeast Asia Center, then from 2009 to 2012, he lectured on the history of Southeast Asia from the 16th to the 21st century. He organised a series of lectures on the history and culture of Southeast Asia and contributed to launching the Southeast Asia minor. In 2012, he gave guest lectures on Buddhism and war at the Tan Kapuja Buddhist College. From 2012 to 2014, he was a lecturer at the Department of International Studies, PPKE BTK. Since September 2014, he has been a research assistant at the Modern East Asia Research Group, PPKE BTK. From March 2015 to February 2021, he was a senior researcher at the Pallas Athéné Geopolitical Foundation Research Institute. Since September 2015, he has been an external collaborator and lecturer at the Modern East Asia Research Group, PPKE BTK. In 2017, he began his studies in the geopolitical PhD programme at the University of Pécs. In 2020–2021, he was a lecturer at the Department of International Economics, Budapest University of Economics. From February 2021 to December 2025, he was a senior research fellow at the Eurasia Center at Neumann János University. Since February 2026, he has been a lecturer at the Faculty of Economics and Business.
Research Areas
His main research areas are the history and international relations of Southeast Asia, China’s 21st-century New Maritime Silk Road initiative, security policy, and classical geopolitical theories. He has published numerous articles on these topics and is a regular participant in domestic and international conferences.
